The assertion that a person that had to qualify for Status, and then live here 25 years & demonstrate concern for community is less fit to stand for election because of parentage, is ludicrous. those that oppose that do not have confidence in the voters!

In my opinion it is debatable who over the years, made the majority of decisions that were beneficial to the Cayman Islands overall: individuals eligible to stand for election (under current law) or others? Holding a post should be on merit not parentage!

The days of giving an MLA or Minister a blank check for 4 years are over!

A referendum is a way to remove someone that is not representing the country according to the wishes of the majority of the electorate. That is why we need it now.

if 20% of eligible voters bring a popular initiative for a referendum, the govt. must be required to hold it within 6 months. The text of the referendum must be agreed between the parties. if a simple majority of those voting accept, it must be binding!

Any appointments or legislation that Cayman has to pay for should require Caymanian concurrence. A referendum/public initiative process must be available to challenge or initiate important legislation. Decision of Cabinet must be ratified by majority MLA's other info.
