Suzanne Bothwell, Director, Constitutional Review Secretariat
The Director of the Constitutional Review Secretariat, Mrs. Suzanne Bothwell, is a Caymanian Attorney – at Law and has been employed with the Cayman Islands Government for approximately six years. She is employed as Senior Crown Counsel under the Portfolio of Legal Affairs. Her work within the portfolio of Legal Affairs is varied. Her experience is broad and covers a wide range of legal areas including, criminal and civil litigation, public law, employment law, immigration law, planning law, international child abduction and mutual legal assistance.
In 2005, Mrs. Bothwell was appointed to act as the legal advisor to the Supervisor of Elections during the national elections. She also currently sits as Chairman of the Health Insurance Commission.
Mrs. Bothwell recently completed a four month secondment with the Crown Prosecution Service – Confiscation Unit and the Asset Recovery Agency in London receiving training in the areas of criminal confiscation and civil recovery.
Since her employment with the Portfolio of Legal Affairs, she has been seconded to head the Constitutional Review Secretariat for the life of the special project. Mrs. Bothwell has overall responsibility for managing the staff and operations of the Secretariat and for driving the Constitutional Modernization Initiative (CMI). She will return to her position as Senior Crown Counsel upon completion of the CMI.
Mrs. Bothwell encourages all Caymanians to play an active role in the present CMI. She feels that when opportunities such as the present arise we must seize the moment and make the best of it.
