Constitutional Review Secretariat

The Constitutional Review Secretariat has been established to restart the constitutional modernization process in the Cayman Islands with a view to achieving national consensus on areas of constitutional reform upon which the Cayman Islands Government may negotiate a new constitution for the Cayman Islands with the United Kingdom.

The establishment of the Constitutional Review Secretariat was announced by the Leader of Government Business, the Honourable D. Kurt Tibbetts on 16 February 2007 at a GIS press briefing. He stated that "the government has established a programme which heralds a fresh start for the constitutional review process in the Cayman Islands."

The Office of the Constitutional Review Secretariat was launched on 1 March 2007. The Secretariat falls under the Cabinet Office Portfolio and is under the supervision of Cabinet Secretary Mr. Orrett Connor.
